“The designer” by Beatrice Brandini<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the Triennale in Milan until February 19, 2017 there is a beautiful exhibition that tells the story of the female Italian design, offering beautiful objects, poetic, funny, useful, fascinating … just like only women can be.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately ends in a few days, who can still go there it will be amazed because it is really very interesting, those who follow me from afar, will get an idea from this post.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, curated by Silvana Annichiarico and set up a project of Margherita Palli, wants to emphasize that women’s creativity has revolutionized and influenced modern design, beyond national borders. But not only that, this exhibition highlights a concept much larger and important, namely that in the years when the art scene was dominated primarily (exclusively) by male presences, in fact the women were active and prolifere, the exhibition testifies to how and as they worked in those years, creating important, modern, iconic objects. The women were not in the limelight but there were, the dozens of objects in this exhibition are an absolute statement. As says Ms. Annichiarico, \u201cthe bed icon Daybed was not the work of the great Mies van der Rohe, but from his partner Lilly.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The exhibition is chronological, punctuated by important “guide” verbs such as WEAVE, PROTECT, REPRODUCTIVE CAPACITY …. Verbs definitely is more suited to women than men, and that here, through creativity and hard work of these great artists, are translated into products.<\/p>\n

Even in fashion, from several seasons, the fashion show, advertising campaigns, products, focusing increasingly on the “no gender”, will be the need to shorten schedules, costs, and, ethically, waste, will be that by now should really be duty paid a concept (prejudice?) archaic as what it calls women and men “fairer sex” or “stronger sex”, but every day we see that unfortunately is not all so obvious. Design history, but we might also add that the scientific, political, managerial … has, in a far too recent past, deleted women artists. As if the women there had never been, Ignored by historians and theorists of design.<\/p>\n

I conclude with this famous character conceived by the creative mind of a woman in 1959. He became a mascot for all children, in an era in which the protagonists of cartoons lasted much more than a single season and where they were often the only darlings.
