The Marcello Gori Foundation <\/b>of Florence participates in the Festival Eredit\u00e0 delle Donne 24 <\/b>with the new project D.E.A-Donne, Empowerment, Artigianato, <\/b>just presented at the Scuola del Cuoio in Florence<\/b>.<\/p>\n

D.E.A. <\/b>(Donne Empowerment Artigianato) is a 3-year project that, by awarding 10 scholarships at the Schola Academy, intends to promote a return to life for those women who have suffered domestic, sexual and gender-based violence, offering them professional training that allows them to reintegrate into a working environment.<\/p>\n

Scuola del Cuoio: Irene<\/b><\/p>\n

The project, born from the experimentation of a model of social, professional and work reintegration, already tested in recent years by Fondazione Marcello Gori E.T.S<\/b>., involves the collaboration with the Artemisia Anti-Violence Center<\/b> that will select the candidates. The Schola Training Academy will offer, in addition to the Leather goods course provided by the Leather School, other professional courses with Master Craftsmen of Men’s Shoes, Women’s Shoes, Haute Couture, Ceramics, and the Art of Cooking.<\/p>\n

Scuola del Cuoio (Leather School): Sara and Scilla<\/b><\/p>\n

The professional training courses, entirely financed by the Leather School<\/b>, with a value per course of 6,000.00 euros, will last 6 months, at the end of which there will also be support for job placement in collaboration with Brands currently being evaluated. The recipients of the scholarships will be 10 women and girls who are victims of violence.<\/p>\n

It seems to me an extraordinary initiative, in a historical moment in which feminicides are a sadly recurring news of our daily life, giving these women the chance to start over, is a bit like allowing them to relive.<\/p>\n

Scuola del Cuoio: Vilma<\/b><\/p>\n

After all, already way back in 1950, Marcello Gori, together with his brother-in-law Silvano Casini, did his best to teach war orphans the art of leather and hide processing, based on a fundamental value, which is that of sharing knowledge and giving a second chance to those who have already suffered injustices in life. The Scuola del Cuoio was born like this, welcoming unemployed, disabled, ex-prisoners, people with mental disabilities who here found faith in the future and in life. Marcello Gori was a visionary entrepreneur but above all a great man.<\/p>\n

The Scuola del Cuoio, founded in 1950 inside the ancient dormitory of the Franciscan Friars, in the Monastery of Santa Croce, has been going on for four generations, a Florentine tradition that creates high-quality custom products, an invaluable artistic and human heritage.<\/p>\n
