The Venice exhibition is a journey through time that starts from the Middle Ages, passing through the industrial revolution, to arrive at contemporary design, where glasses (hurray) become the protagonist of twentieth-century Italian fashion, between cinema, stardom, stylists, design and experimentation.<\/p>\n

On display are glasses from three important Italian collections: that of the Museo dell\u2019Occhiale in Pieve di Cadore, <\/b>that of the Vascellari family <\/b>and the Arte del Vedere collection by Lucio Stramare,<\/b> making it a truly unmissable exhibition.<\/p>\n

But this exhibition is also important for another aspect, that of celebrating Italian craftsmanship, creativity and innovation, aspects that have made Italy the heart of global eyewear production.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, curated by Daniela Zambelli, director of the Fondazione Museo dell\u2019Occhiale, and by art historian Alessandra Cucinato,\u00a0\u00a0takes the visitor through the history of eyeglasses, from \u201creading stone\u201d to their more modern use as a fashion accessory. There are more than 150 selected pieces, which tell the story of the evolution of eyeglasses and, once again it is important to underline, the excellence of eyeglasses as an Italian product.<\/p>\n

Those who know me know how passionate I am about glasses, I consider them the most interesting accessory to complete a look, a sort of Linus blanket when your face is particularly tired, in short a creative element that itself confers charm and mystery.<\/p>\n

These days I happened to go to a well-known Italian department store and, directing myself to the section dedicated to glasses, I saw how the shapes, materials, details are increasingly innovative and at the same time creative. Almost all the most important brands and luxury maisons produce glasses in Italy, this should be an example, and a warning, for all other Italian excellences. We are the top of the class on an innumerable series of products, often linked to fashion and design, we must be proud of these records, but also try not to lose these invaluable heritages that make us unique in the world.<\/p>\n
