I was invited to the presentation of the trends for Spring / Summer 2017, organized and carried out by MilanoUnica, in the picturesque location “Pelota”, in Palermo street in Milan. In this interesting preview MilanoUnica has identified four main areas in which the themes were described: ABYSS – NATURE and ARTIFICE – AFRICA PUNK – PSYCHO BIT.

I prepared this post with some photos of the presentation in the event, then developing the personal Mood Board where along with fabrics and accessories proposed in the MilanoUnica presentation, I inserted evocative images, suitable to describe the above subject, plus some of my drawings.

Good “reading” of this magnificent universe that is the fashion with its many suggestions ….

Theme “Africa Punk”: Africa with its picturesque and wild nature, but also cruel to the black becomes survival, rebellion, Punk Colorrs: Empire Yellow, Tango Red, Tea Rose, Cuban Sand and natural shades who come often to white and black. Fringes, braids, ribbons, leather. Prints with “African” pattern and design, patchwork effects and print animalier. Important accessories such as studs, trimmings, fringes, zip, all made with technology solutions such as plastic, silicone, the thermal welding, lacquers, etc. Important safety pins, typical decorative element of Punk.

Theme “Abyss”: Everything fluctuates. Fantasy, poetry, deep as the human condition The Blue in its many nuances, and then shades of pink and purple iridescent and bright. Pleated as a decorative element reminiscent of the ripples of the sea. Raffia fringes, always draw water features like the filaments of jellyfish. Fish scales, waves, marine networks … designs and effects produced on the one hand, with ancient craftsmanship, the other with the most sophisticated technologies. CHANGING EFFECTS Swarovski crystals, sequins, buttons.

Theme “Nature and Artifice” Landscapes such as maps, aerial views seen from above. Dualism between truth and falsehood, between what is natural and what is artificial. Green (natural) and Gray (artificial), but also orange, white, powder-blue Gauze, Jersey, Lace, leather, tweed. Camouflage designs, prints with 3D effects.

Theme “Psycho Bit”: A psychedelic world, colorful, cheerful, free. Strong colors like HOT PINK, BLAZING YELLOW FLAME SCARLET, LIME GREEN … Prints black and white, geometric, iridescent. Plastic, wheels, fake fur and blatantly false. Printed lycra, lurex, but also silk organza, cotton jersey. Studs, colored rhinestones, networks, colored ribbon.

These were the four themes presented, very interesting and very different. But since fashion is and must be especially freedom, they may also live and be interpreted together, for a creativity more personal and free, without force and dogmas that no one (I hope) wants to hear any more…
