Milano Unica for the season Autumn/Winter 2022 – 2023 investigates the relationship between the individual, society and the planet, embracing universal themes of humanity.

Our desires, our passions, our ideals are the protagonists of this edition. Milano Unica’s claim is “Magnificent Passions”, where the stories will be characterized by three main macro themes: Personal Passions, Social Passions and Planetary Passions.

As for PERSONAL PASSIONS, Betrayal and Nutrition stand out.

“BETRAYAL” : Passion, eros, overwhelming love, seduction and finally betrayal.

Theme with a bourgeois atmosphere. Transparencies.

Materials: lingerie effect jacquard, sheer silks, overlapping lace and mesh, bustier padding, vinyl licking and varnishing, macro bouclé.

Accessories: grosgrain gauze, lace effect workings also on the zips. Shiny and golden buttons.

Colors: black, glossy black, cream and camel.

“FOOD”:  return to origins and nature, also through food and nutrition; the need to explore primordial foods such as roots and wild herbs. Botanical, simple, almost contemplative “Nouvelle cuisine”. Farmers.

Materials: natural, raw fibers, brushed embroidery. Vicky weaves that recall the classic country tablecloths. Stripes à jour.

Accessories: Cork labels, buttons with wooden effects that look like bark.

Colors: rural and food tones found in nature and botany.

For the SOCIAL PASSIONS, Beauty and Christmas emerge.

“BEAUTY”: the importance of appearance, the ideal of perfection, and finally the use and abuse of cosmetic surgery. The main theme is the body and its physicality. However, something is changing, from selfie filters to the search for beauty and inexhaustible youth, a different ideal is emerging, characterized by normality and self-acceptance, see the curvy and genderless models, increasingly protagonists of advertising and social campaigns.

Materials: luminous treatments, glossy coatings, silicone and whitening washes. Velvety and shaded, matelassé combinations, quilted embroideries.

Accessories: Plexiglas buttons, tags with transparent or padded embroidery.

Colors: skin tones, all shades of powder pink up to the most amber shades.

“CHRISTMAS”: A ritual that is perpetuated everywhere. This will be a more sparkling and luxurious Christmas, with rich decorations and a willingness to celebrate and be together.

Materials: macro check with lurex yarns, glitter prints, tartans, lasered velvets, precious brocades, damask fabrics.

Accessories: fringes, edged with rhinestone bows, lamé or metallic yarn taping. Buttons and jewel clasps. Pending and sparkling applications.

Colors: Christmas greens and reds, and lots of GOLD, shiny and opaque.

Two fundamental themes for PLANETARY PASSIONS, subjects of which Milano Unica has been spent by now for many editions, namely the theme of Ecology and that of Technology.

“ECOLOGY”: passion and ethical and moral sharing, now a mantra. Terminologies such as zero kilometer, recycling, energy saving, have entered the current language and behavior of each of us.

A dialogue between craftsmanship and industry, of which Made in Italy is certainly the most suitable country to undertake it.

Materials: new textures, such as embroidery and three-dimensional prints, patchwork with regenerated yarns. The checks are micro and macro, irregular pleats, the mats are made from tea bags. As well as all accessories

Colors: green with all its chromatic shades.

TECHNOLOGY: We cannot do without it, today more than ever we have understood that without tools we cannot be “free” (think of school with DAD). We need technology to learn, buy and relate to others, which is why it is the protagonist This theme experiences a different dimension of technology, namely that of fiction and the ability to evoke other realities.

Materials: the imagery of this “story” is expressed through the choice of double fringing with iridescent layering, fil coupé, large mesh with laminated treatments and fabrics with PVC inserts. Denim, luminescent yarns, fake fur in technical wool.

Accessories: labels with dripping treatments, lamé elastics, PVC macro chains.

Colors: shades of the virtual and tech world, electric and fluo shades.

Once again Milano Unica stands as an important event capable of deepening themes and profound reflections on the socio-cultural evolutions of our time (Personal, Social and Planetary Passions).

Finally, I offer my most sincere congratulations to all those who have made these wonderful artifacts, every time, for all editions, I am enchanted by these works of art of weaving, the result of an all-ITALIAN creativity and craftsmanship, that Milano Unica enhances and exports around the world.

Post Covid Italy has a great opportunity to be reborn by enhancing its know-how, creativity and excellence.
