As always very interesting MilanoUnica’s preview for Spring-Summer 2018 season. I never tire of repeating it, but if Italy is probably the most important country for fashion, if with it also means its supply chain, made up of industry, handicraft, raw materials …, it is thanks to initiatives (fairs) like this.

In the space of Pelota, in Milan, MilanoUnica has presented the guidelines in which an imaginary and wonderful trip, three great personalities, three major genes were presented, three figures that still affect the art, as well as fashion, intersect in three locations legendary (seemingly poles apart), influencing, with their different cultures, new fabrics and accessories for Spring and Summer 2018.

I reworked these scenarios by creating mood board, the tissues are those presented by MilanoUnica.

The first theme is Malevich in Sorrento. In the early twentieth century the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich’s Suprematism launches, current flowing through color and geometry expresses the surrounding reality. Malevich influenced art (abstractionism), architecture (space-form-movement) and costumes (from Sonia Delaunay to Proenza Shouller). Sorrento has been for decades a favorite destination for all those intellectuals who sought peace here in a special relationship with nature. Sorrento with its colors, its flowers, its ceramics, has much in common with the Russian artist.

FABRICS-ACCESSORIES-COLOR: In this first issue are the fantasies to be the true stars, through applications, graphics games, stripes, pinstripes, three-dimensional effects, patch. Fabrics: printed silk, cotton, jersey, double-faced organza hand. Applications, grosgrain ribbons, buttons inspired by the Sorrentine ceramics, decorations. Yellow Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Bright Red, Green Flag, Blue Sky, Mediterranean Blue.

The second trip is to Nefertiti in Ibiza. Ancient Egypt meets the most modern and cosmopolitan island of the Mediterranean. The legendary figure of Nefertiti, queen of Egypt from the rare beauty and majesty, not coincidentally approaching that island (Ibiza) who perhaps more than any other, represents the richest place of symbolic and naturalistic references, but especially what in collective imagination means FREEDOM.

FABRICS-ACCESSORIES-COLOR: Sand (Ibiza), dunes (Egypt), silks, pleated, gauze, tulle. Maxi placed prints, silks crisp, printed suede, silk-viscose mat. irregular reliefs matt and gloss taping Godly Gold, Amethyst Purple, Amber Brown, Warm Yellow, Beige, Kiwi Green.

I found this “exercise” very interesting in which MilanoUnica played with these three personalities, making them travel, placing them in places that apparently seem risky and anachronistic one another. The world is changing every day, the cultures are mixed, distances are shortened. Everything is possible.

Also fell in love with Carlo Mollino for many years (see my post of February 2015), as well as Malevich and all those personalities who, through their art, but it might be the word, music, or just an attitude, they have expressed their ideas and their personality, with passion and boldness, unwittingly or not, turning and changing the aesthetics forever.

Special thanks to MilanoUnica that every six months still manages to amaze me.

Good life to everyone!

Beatrice
