This wonderful journey intends to suggest new ways of comparing and analyzing these two extraordinary masters.

“This exhibition project was born from a dream, explains Sergio Risaliti, a journey through the most remote time and into the most distant future. Human figures emaciated, reduced to their essence, drained but standing upright or walking on a corrugated surface like a planet still in the process of forming…”

Two figures, that of Giacometti and Fontana, very distant from each other in style and life paths, but linked, not only for being both two extraordinary symbols of the twentieth century, by a reflection on the truth of art, between experimentation with matter and imagination and creativity.

In addition to the extraordinary nature of the event and the works presented together (to ensure four works by Giacometti the value was 300,000,000 euros), the meeting aims to induce reflections and questions on affinities of thought and common references, of these two great artists, pioneers of an evolution of the art of the last century.

Exhibitions like these are lifeblood for the city of Florence which no longer lives only on its extraordinary artistic heritage, but looks ahead, looks to the future.

A moment of the press conference with Mayor Nardella, Chiara Gatti, Alessia Bettini and Sergio Risaliti

I always get excited when I see works of this level and I always attribute an extraordinary saving power to art, especially in a moment like this, shifting attention to the tragedies that characterize our daily lives every day. And I thank the universe for giving us art, with its beauty, and extraordinary artists such as Giacometti and Fontana were.

Good life to everyone!

Beatrice
