Catwalk

“Waiting in the backstage” by Beatrice Brandini

New York, London, Milan and Paris presented the collections for the next Spring Summer 2021, it is the first real restart after the Covid emergency. After so much pain, seeing these extraordinary dresses, born from the passion and commitment of so many workers, a shiver of pride and happiness pervades our hearts.

“Extra Large” mood by Beatrice Brandini

Some shows were physical, other brands preferred or opted for digital presentations. Fashion has shown a truly extraordinary capacity for resilience, and, as always, doing almost everything by itself; demonstrating to the whole world the beauty of its products, the strength of its ideas, the will to raise our heads after this diabolical tsunami that overwhelmed us but did not break us.

I collected some images highlighting the strongest trends, naturally there were many more extraordinary things seen especially in Milan. In addition to the images shown in this post, it is also important to underline other macro trends, such as that of LEATHER, which has become and treated for many years as a fabric, given the extraordinary nature with which it is worked. Denim, transformed for modern suits and dresses, as well as for the timeless five pockets (also in shorts version), often worn with something else. Jersey, the real winner in the proposals of fabrics for next spring summer, a texture that gives fluidity to all shapes. Art Prints, frequently floral and unusual.

I start with an Extra Large fit, which often recalls the 80s due to the width of the shoulders of the jackets. But it is modern, conceptual, the hems are an optional in the sleeves and pants, which fall fluidly. The “large / over” theme has been present for some seasons, but unlike in the past, where volumes were enveloping and covered the body like a “cocoon”, now this theme is less exaggerated and slimmer.

“Chiffon” mood by Beatrice Brandini

Lots of CHIFFON (but also organza) in hyper feminine, fluid, graceful dresses. Who, like Alberta Ferretti, has made this fabric a wonderful hallmark, presenting very feminine dresses, who has proposed it by transforming beautiful models into modern gypsies (Dior).

GREEN is in my opinion one of the newest colors since it is not green in its “traditional” shades, but a soft, acidic, very modern green. A color that transforms any garment into a modern one.

“Fifties” mood by Beatrice Brandini

FIFTIES a timeless elegance, with a retro flavor and a little nostalgic. Dream dresses, scenographic. The body is enhanced for a rediscovered femininity. The waistline is very evident.

“White” mood by Beatrice Brandini

WHITE, the non-color color par excellence, modern, elegant, transformative. Presented by everyone.

RED, did not rage on all the catwalks, but I wanted to mention it for two reasons, the first is that whoever proposed it did it very well (Fendi or Jenny), the second is that it is the color of our flag green and white), so the motif speaks for itself. W Italy !!!!

“Patchwork” mood by Beatrice Brandini

PATCHWORK, also in this case it is not a question of traditional patchwork, at least not only, but of the desire to mix different fabrics, inlay them creating crazy but artistic palettes. There are no more rules, combinations of fabrics and unusual and new patterns, for extraordinary optical effects.

“Lace” mood by Beatrice Brandini

LACE, feminine and bon ton. Very present in the fashion shows, extraordinarily eclectic. You can wear it for a ceremony, but also for a sexy and rock evening. Often white, but also black.

Fashion is becoming more inclusive, this is perhaps the strongest message passed during these fashion days. Many black models (the Black Lives Matter movement has shaken some conscience), many also curvy ones. Fashion is trying to get up with courage and resilience. Probably after this pandemic something will change, consumption, priorities, luxury understood as ostentation … we will certainly look at our lives and the future with different eyes.

But anyway, thanks FASHION, that behind this glittering facade you hide a magnificent work done by artisans, industrialists, managers, creatives … in short, by MEN, those who work hard to make this world a little more beautiful.

Good life to everyone!

Beatrice
